Hy-Vee Multiplex Powered by the City of Grimes

Many people still say Grimesplex. Hy-Vee took the naming rights in November 2024 under a five-year deal, and the complex is now the Hy-Vee Multiplex, run by the city. It sits west of Highway 141, north of the Grimes Hy-Vee, in the Hope District, which is still under development. The complex's own site calls it one of the largest facilities of its kind in the Midwest.

• Fields: six pods with 184,000 square feet of turf each, holding 12 full-size (11 v 11) soccer fields or 18 baseball and softball fields.
• Extras: 36 batting cages, 36 bullpens, two concession and restroom buildings, Musco lighting, and 1,225 parking stalls in north and south lots.
• Events: weekend tournaments run from soccer to baseball and softball, and the weekend schedule is posted at grimesplex.com (see "Weekend Schedule").

North and South Sports Complexes

North Sports Complex, 700 NW 27th St (about 26 acres, behind North Ridge Elementary): five all-dirt softball fields, one adult slow-pitch field, over five acres of green space for soccer, and a concession stand. Open 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

South Sports Complex, 750 S James St (about 45 acres, just south of South Prairie Elementary, built in 2002): four baseball fields, three softball fields, multiple soccer fields (nine acres, including one lit tournament field), three sand volleyball courts, two pickleball courts and a tennis court with pickleball lines, two basketball courts, a skate park, walking trails, two concession stands, and a large play structure. Open 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The South Complex is also home base for Governors Days, the Fall Festival, and Trunk or Treat.
