The first checklist in a new house is always the same: lights, heat, water, internet. Here is who provides each in Grimes so you can get set up in one sitting.
Electric is MidAmerican Energy, gas is Black Hills Energy (MidAmerican also serves gas in parts), water and sewer are through the City of Grimes, and internet options include Mediacom, CenturyLink, MetroNet, and Segra.
Set up water and sewer through the city (see our water guide), and trash is billed on your city water bill (details in the trash and recycling guide). For internet, availability varies by street, so check two or three providers for your exact address before you commit.
