The Grimes Brief
The Grimes Public Library is one of the town's most used public buildings, and the details people search for are simple: when is it open, how do I get a card, and what can I use besides books? Here are the answers, straight from the library's own site.
Grimes Public Library, 200 NE Beaverbrooke Blvd, Grimes, IA 50111. Phone 515-986-3551. Open Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The library posts closings on its closures page. The next ones on that list:
On the Governors Days parade Saturday the library opens late, at noon (June 5 in 2027).
Residents of Grimes, unincorporated Polk County, and Open Access communities are eligible. Bring a photo ID showing your current address, or a photo ID plus a current proof of address such as a piece of mail or an electronic bill. Kids ages 5 to 17 need a parent or guardian to sign, and that adult shows ID. The library does not list a card fee on its card page, so ask at the desk if you are outside those areas.
The library runs storytimes, a baby storytime, book clubs, crafts, speakers, and performers for all ages. The events calendar has the current schedule, and the library and Grimes Parks and Recreation put out a seasonal program guide together. For a family-friendly rainy day, pair it with our Grimes with kids guide.
