Most of Grimes is new, and getting newer. Much of the housing sits in named master-planned developments and subdivisions rather than old established neighborhoods. Here are the ones shaping the town.
The big one
Heritage at Grimes is the largest master-planned community, roughly 400 acres with parks, trails, retail, and schools woven in. Much of the city's recent growth has happened here and in the subdivisions around it.

Founders Glen - an active new-build community.
Hope Meadows - a newer subdivision north of Oak View Middle School.
Brooke Field Estates - a development that, notably, falls in the Johnston school district rather than Dallas Center-Grimes.
School assignment can vary by development, as Brooke Field Estates shows, so confirm the district for any specific address. See our schools guide.
