Guide · Mustangs football

Friday night football with the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs.

If you want one thing that pulls a growing town together, it is Friday night football. Here is what to know about the Mustangs on the gridiron.

The short version

Dallas Center-Grimes plays Class 4A football in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Home games are at the DCG football complex on the high school campus. Follow schedules and scores on Bound.

The program

Class and conference

The Mustangs compete in Class 4A, having moved up from 3A in 2022 as the district grew, and play in the Little Hawkeye Conference against 4A members like Ames, Indianola, and Norwalk. It is a competitive league, and DCG has been a regular in the playoff conversation.

Game day

Where they play, and how to follow

Home games are played at the DCG football, track, and soccer complex on the high school campus. For schedules, opponents, and scores, Bound (gobound.com) is the reliable source, and it is where we always confirm whether a given game is truly at home or on the road, since a schedule label alone can mislead. We carry Mustangs football results in the Brief each week in season.
